2007 Gibson Les Paul Standard Antique Vintage Burst
LCPG-146S with
Manalishi "PG Mod" Pickups and UPGRADES!

This is a SPECIAL LCPG modded Les Paul Standard, hence the "S" designation in the number.
I didn't acquire this guitar with the intention of making it an LCPG, as I only mod Standard Fadeds
in this way, because I have found them to be the only guitars which do the PG Mod to my total satisfaction.
However, when I played it unplugged, it sounded like it would be a good candidate, no doubt due to the chambering,
and, at the very least, I decided it would be worthwhile to do the mods and see if I could get the same satisfaction
from a regular finished Standard.

This guitar is actually a Gibson "Guitar of the Week," #33, I believe. Instead of BB pro pickups, it came with a
Classic '57 in the neck, and a Classic '57 Plus in the bridge. I didn't like it with those pickups, so I tried a pair
of BB Pros. Not bad, but I still didn't like it. As on most regular finished LPs, it was too tinny out of phase.

In the meantime, I was in the final development stage of having my own pickups made -
Manalishi! I began
working with a pickup manufacturer several months ago, because I was looking for a set of pickups to offer as
an alternative to the BB Pros in my LCPG guitars. The BB Pros are great pickups, perfectly suited to Fadeds
and the PG Mod. However, there are some folks who don't like their modern "edginess," and I noticed some
buyers of my LCPGs were changing out the pickups for more mellow, vintage types. I tried a lot of different
pickups in my Fadeds, but I never found anything that satisfied me. That's why I decided to find a pickup maker
willing and able to work with me to develop what, to me, would be the perfect alternative to the BB Pros. After
many variations, we finally got what I was looking for. With the right mismatching of the coils and weakened
ALNICo V magnets, I am totally pleased with the results! I decided this guitar, a regular finished Standard,
would be a good test - and they are! While the Classics and BB Pros sounded too tinny, the Manalishi
sound perfect in this guitar. Listen to the sound clips and I think you'll agree! Also, listen to a BBPro/Manalishi
comparison in a Standard Faded here: LCPG-86

This is a great guitar for the player who wants the Peter Green tone, a new Les Paul upgraded with
superior parts (I opted for non-aged parts on this one), including optional Sperzel tuners (same model as
on the Green/Moore Burst) AND a regular finish! Not to mention a totally unique LCPG!
